Alfa Laval hits renewable milestone in Oceania towards carbon neutral future
The Alfa Laval Sales Company in Oceania has reached an important milestone on the journey towards carbon neutrality by installing solar panels across all its sites in Australia. This means the electricity it consumes is sourced from renewable energy, making it carbon neutral for Scope 2 emissions across the region (1).
Most recently the Brisbane branch installed rooftop solar panels. The 20kW installation will deliver approximately 70kwh per day and meet the majority of the site’s energy needs
This complements last year’s investment at the Huntingwood office in New South Wales where the installation of 99.99 kW solar panels covering the rooftop of the Service Centre provides an estimated kWh 124,000. The Alfa Laval Perth office and workshop has been running on solar power since 2019.
Last year, Alfa Laval’s Hamilton branch in New Zealand reached its renewable target for Scope 2 emissions by signing up to 100 per cent certified renewable energy (related news). New Zealand is a global leader in clean energy with approximately 80 per cent renewable power in the grid, thanks in large part to geothermal energy.
According to Bharat Bhola, Managing Director, Alfa Laval Oceania, the commitment to sustainability is a central element of Alfa Laval’s culture and value proposition to customers:
“By moving our Brisbane site to solar power, we are proud to reach this significant renewable energy milestone in Oceania, which is in line with our global ambition to become carbon neutral by 2030,” Mr Bhola said.
The next steps for the Alfa Laval Sales Company in Oceania involve reviewing Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions to accelerate the journey towards Carbon Neutrality in 2030. In addition, the strategic focus will be on Circularity, especially water savings and reducing waste to landfill.
